Chichen Itza is one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Cozumel was home to the Goddess Ixchel, Goddess of love and fertility. Temples were built to worship her and in gratitude, she sent her favorite bird, the swallow. Cozumel gets its name from this bird, it actually means “Land of Swallows”.
